DO I NEED EXPERIENCE WITH SUP OR SUP YOGA?
No experience with SUP or with SUP Yoga is required. We will teach you how to get on the board, how to paddle and how to practice yoga on your board.
WHERE ARE THE SUP YOGA CLASSES HELD?
Classes will be held at the Dillon Marina where Stand Up Paddle Colorado stores their boards and kayaks. You won't be able to see this part of the beach from the main part of the marina. To get there walk down past the Dillon Yacht Club along a dirt path about 400 feet. The path has good signage and is easy to find.
WHERE SHOULD I PARK?
Park in the Dillon Marina parking. Plan about 5 minutes to walk from the parking to the SUP Colorado offices.
DO I NEED TO BRING A BOARD?
No, you don't. Boards are available for rental from SUP Colorado.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
In Summit County layers are always a good idea. Early mornings are likely to be cool (50s) but warm up by 9 to the 60s. We recommend lightweight yoga pants or any kind of quick-dry shorts/pants/leggings with short sleeves or a tank top and a sweatshirt or sweater Bring a hat and sunglasses to keep the sun off your face. The beach is quite rocky so we suggest water shoes/flip flops.
WHERE IS THE BATHROOM?
Currently the only bathroom is at the Dillon Marina long before you get to SUP Colorado, and it may not be open at 7am so please use the restroom BEFORE coming to class.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING
OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL ITEMS
- Chums - so your sunglasses will float (for at least a little while) if you drop them in the water
- Waterproof case for your phone
- Small Dry Bag for clothing/phone/keys/sunscreen/water/etc....
WHAT SHOULD I NOT BRING?
Don't bring anything you don't need. If you don't need your phone, don't bring it. Leave purse/wallet in your car.
WHERE WILL I PUT MY EXTRA LAYERS/SHOES/WATER/DRY BAG ON THE BOARD?
Every board has bungee cord tie-downs under which you can secure a few items. Anything with a carabiner (like a water bottle) can be hooked to the tie-downs if it doesn't fit under the tie-downs.
HOW WILL WE "DOCK" THE BOARDS?
You will be supplied with short leashes which have a carabiner on each end. You'll hook one carabiner to a hook at the front of your board, and the other to a buoy.
WILL I FALL IN THE LAKE?
As long as you are aware, move slowly and listen to the guidance of your instructor it is very unlikely that you will fall in Lake Dillon. If you do fall in you will be required to get off the water and to dry land for your own safety.
